Facilio just launched Atom. Named AI agents: Mira handles helpdesk dispatch. Luca reconciles invoices. They claim 40% automation of FM work.
I'll say this clearly: named agents are a smart product move. Giving AI a persona makes adoption easier. People trust "Mira" more than "Algorithm #47."
But here's my concern.
When Mira dispatches the wrong contractor to a regulated facility at 2 AM, who's accountable? When Luca reconciles an invoice incorrectly and it cascades through your financial reporting, what's the audit trail? When agents are making thousands of decisions per day across your portfolio, can you explain any single one of them to a regulator?
Naming an agent doesn't govern it. Trusting it doesn't audit it. Deploying it doesn't make it compliant.
I've now confirmed this with 8 of 8 autonomous building AI vendors: not one has a formal governance framework. Not one offers explainable decision trails. Not one requires agents to pass formal testing before receiving operational permissions.
The industry is shipping agents faster than it's shipping accountability.
This isn't an argument against AI agents. It's an argument for governed agents. The ones that earn autonomy through testing, produce auditable reasoning for every decision, and operate within boundaries your team defines — not the algorithm's defaults.
Named agents deserve named governance.
