Post 4: Static vs. Dynamic

Accessibility compliance assumes human needs are static.

Meet WCAG 2.1 AA, provide captions, ensure demographic diversity—and you're done.

But human need is not static. The same person's access needs vary based on:

  • Time of day and energy level

  • Context and sensory environment

  • Progression of disability

  • Intersecting support needs

  • Individual variation

A neurodivergent person needs simplified interfaces on scattered days and feature-rich interfaces when hyperfocused.

Someone with chronic illness needs different accommodation on bad health days versus good ones.

Static compliance frameworks cannot accommodate this. Genuine inclusion requires adaptive, contextual, individual-level accommodation.
