Theme: The Conflict Problem
A meeting room with 5 occupants. Three prefer 19–21°C. Two prefer 22–24°C.
These preferences cannot be simultaneously satisfied.
Current "smart" building systems respond by averaging. Everyone gets 21°C. No one is satisfied.
But most occupants don't even know this is what's happening. The system hides the conflict.
What if instead, the building was honest about the trade-off, involved occupants in deciding the fairest solution, and showed in real-time why their preference wasn't being served?
That's not comfort. But it's fair.
