The Contract Obsolescence Crisis

LinkedIn Post 09: The Contract Obsolescence Crisis

Your building management contract was written in 2019.

It assumes:

  • Human technicians make changes

  • Software updates are deliberate and documented

  • Switching vendors is economically viable

  • Performance is measurable and transparent

2019 was before AI became viable in building management.

Your contract says nothing about:

  • AI model updates

  • Learned model ownership

  • Algorithmic failures

  • Multi-vendor attribution

  • Model transparency rights

You're managing a 2026 building with a 2019 contract.

Facilities managers who negotiate new vendor contracts need to update them for AI era:

  • Add AVCGA-CHANGE language (model update governance)

  • Add AVCGA-PORT language (data ownership/portability)

  • Add AVCGA-ATTRIBUTE language (multi-vendor attribution)

  • Add AVCGA-LIABILITY language (algorithmic liability)

  • Add AVCGA-AUDIT language (transparency rights)

Don't sign AI vendor contracts without AI governance language.

Your contract is your only protection against vendor lock-in and opacity.

Make it count.
