LinkedIn Post 13: CBGA Implementation: Start With Assessment
If you're responsible for building decarbonisation, here's your next step: audit your current AI system against CBGA.
For each module, ask yourself:
CBGA-OBJECTIVE: Is your system optimising for carbon reduction per pound, or cost reduction per tonne? If cost reduction, that's your first problem to fix.
CBGA-SEQUENCE: Does your system have rules that enforce deep retrofit priority, or can it recommend LEDs to buildings that also need deep retrofit? If no rules, that's your second problem.
CBGA-DISAGGREGATE: Are you reporting carbon outcomes at building level, or just portfolio level? Can you name which buildings are non-compliant? If not, third problem.
CBGA-BASELINE: Are building energy baselines locked at the start of the budget period, or can they be revised? Are they externally verified? If revised or unverified, that's problem four.
CBGA-HORIZON: Does your system plan relative to five-year budget periods, or annual capital cycles? If annual, that's problem five.
You probably have at least three of these problems. That's normal. CBGA is not just about technology—it's about governance discipline.
Start the assessment. See where you stand. Plan from there.
