LinkedIn Post 14: Why Governance Beats Technology
Here's a hard truth: you don't need smarter AI to fix decarbonisation governance. You need more governance.
Your current AI system is probably sophisticated. It's running complex optimisations. It's generating reports. It's probably delivering cost savings.
The problem isn't capability. The problem is alignment. The AI system is optimised for what you asked it to optimise for. You asked it to minimise cost. It did. But statutory obligations require something different: delivering specific quantities of carbon reduction within specific time periods.
A smarter algorithm won't solve this. A better dashboard won't solve this. Governance will.
Changing objective functions. Adding constraints. Building escalation protocols. Disaggregating reporting. Locking baselines. Aligning horizons.
None of this requires technology innovation. It requires discipline.
That's CBGA. It's not a software product. It's a governance discipline. The next wave of responsible AI in decarbonisation will be built on governance, not on algorithms.
Start thinking about your governance now.
